I'm brand new in revit structure 2010 so bear with me. I outlined a floor slab for the entire level 1 floor of my project. It's one continuous enclosed "box" and revit structure accepted it when I finished my slab sketch. Then I realized that within this level of my project the deck needs to span in one direction for half of the level and span perpendicular for the other half of the level. Instead of outlining the entire level floor slab should I have outlined the slab area where the deck is going to span in one direction and closed that slab sketch and then create another slab and outline that area where the deck will span in the different direction? Is that the way it's done when the same type of floor deck size and slab thickness is used on a level when the deck changes direction? If so, will there be a line in the concrete slab where these two slabs intersect when I cut a section?

Although I don't have structure, I believe this will act just like other materials.  You will need a diierent floor for each span direction.  If there is a line at first, try your join geometry tool.  That should join the concrete.

WWHub has it right. You need a different slab for each different direction, and you can join them to remove the line.
