I am reaching the end of a a average two story building with average complexity.

I have linked the MEP file and have it isolated to a separate work-set. This work set is off for all views. for the views that need the MEP background I turn on the work-set in that view only.

As we work it is clear that the MEP file is very CPU intensive. the machine is very slow to display and changes take time to update in the view.

Is the MEP file doing many calculations to develop the geometry? If so, can this be avoided? I am thinking of creating a proxy file made up of exported geometry in dwg or some other format and relinking but the is a work-flow nightmare.

Does anyone have experience/thoughts on this?

as a user of mep, now you know why we all curse so much...the mep model is not doing any calc for geometry at the point where you are using it...the geometry itself yes is being regenerated though in all views...a proxy may work it would certainly move quicker..defeats the purpose of us creating a model though
