The project I am working on is comprised of 5 buildings. Each building has its own revit file and they are individually linked into a master file. I am trying to tag items (wall types, doors, etc.) on these links, but it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone know how to tag revit links?

Ah.... you have to think ahead. AutoDESK needs to fix this. Yo can schedule from a linked file but you can't tag. Sorry. Tags have to be done in the link.
