to set this up:

I have a 12" foundation wall that goes up to the floor line except at the columns (the grid is 12" from the exterior face of wall).  There is a concrete pilaster  (20"x20"Winking down 8" at the column line, there is also a 5" wide brick ledge at the columns, at the floor level.

 My question is:

How do I get the edge of slab to pour down onto the concrete pilasters.  The slab edge command only does a certain depth and thickness that occurs all the way around the edge of slab.  I would like mine to go in and out on top of the concrete pilasters (no matter what size they are, because the corner ones will be a little different), I also do not want a thickened slab around the rest of the building.

karen.

If you really need to model this....

Slab edges are just like wall sweeps.

  • They have a button at the end that allows you to adjust their length.
  • To create a break in a sweep.  Place a full length swwep an drag one end of the sweep back to create one end.  You can then place another sweep in the same location then drag the other end of this sweep to create the other end of your broken sweep.
  • You can place two differt thickness / shaped sweeps along the same edge and adjust where theyoccur lengthwise by the above process.
Remember to edit your slab at pilasters to go in - out or wrap the pilaster.

Well - that is the 60 million dollar question - do I really need to model this?  Will it affect the wall section or the design of the building if I do not connect the slab to the concrete pilaster or to the top of the interior footings.  (Sorry, I am just now learning revit so i don't know really that much about it yet.)  can I over-ride the slab pour-down when i am doing wall sections if it is not modeled to pour down onto the pilasters in plan?

Learn how to use youe "Edit Cut Profile" tool.  You can add - subtract to any system category family layer component.

Read this topic in your HELP - Changing the Cut Profile of Elements

This is one of the most powerful tools in REVIT   !!!!!

ok - I might be getting way ahead of my self, but right now in the plan view it shows my wall going over the top 8" of my pilaster.  How do I get it to break those lines out of the wall at the pilaster in the plan view?  Do I use this cut profile and if so does it cut a certain depth,  I only want the wall cut out at the pilaster (I don't want to see the wall lines going thru the pilaster).
