All the model items seem frozen in one of my building elevations (the rest of them are fine). I can't pick any one of the model items. I can only select them by drawing a cross window. And all the related functions, such as dimensions, keynotes, linework tools, etc., does not work anymore because they work by "clicking" items. Anyone had this issue before? I'm trying not to create a new elevation - there were a lot of work on lineworks and dimensions that can not be copied over. Thanks!

Are the model items in gray? Did you group them? Does filter work? Can you duplicate the sheet with detailing and check it the same condition exist? This can be from a lot of causes. Save your file to another name or you can open the latest backup file, the ones like filename.rvt.001 and compare.

Everything looks normal. I tried to create a new view.

  1. Duplicate  - model items back to selectable but frozen again after applying view template
  2. Duplicate with detail – model items still frozen
  3. Create a new elevation view – works even with applying the view template.

And actually I think I found the answer: when you move your view tag on the floor plan, if you move both the square/circle and the triangle several times, it will lock-up the elevation view. Now I know how it locked but I don't know how to unlock it.

It does not say anything. The properties look the same as the others. You just can't touch the model items - the drafting items are fine.

Strange! Can you select all and use filter? I tried moing my elev. tag a couple of time like what you have said but the elevation is not affected.

I can only select by crossing window. Strange things happen when your model gets bigger and more people working on it.

Did you say more people work on that file? Are you using worksets? Check if some items are not assigned to you.

We basically just use one big workset. If certain items were not assigned to me at that moment, I at east could select them and got error if I wanted to do anything to them.
