I'm working on a remodel project and having trouble figuring out a few things.  We have a remodel plan that shows the previous and new as it should, but we're having difficulty with our demo plan.  I have the view properties set to "Show Previous + Demo" for Phase Filter and "Existing" for Phase.  Also, if I try to create an element, it automatically goes to the "New Construction" phase regardless of what phase is active.  The only thing visible are grids and existing rooms.  When I go to a 3D view and set the same parameters, everything shows up fine.  What am I missing?

There can be any number of things going on.  First, for the demo plan your phase should be set to New Construction so that your demo'ed items show dashed.  Is your view range correct?  Everything is checked under VG?  Is the view discipline set to Architectural in View Properties?

I figured out a solution:

I created a third phase, so I have "Existing," "Demo," and "New Construction."  All existing construction was drawn (or copied to) the Existing phase, room separation lines where demo walls occur were drawn in the Demo phase (since demo walls aren't room bounding, but we still want room labels), and new construction was drawn in the New Construction phase.  My demo plans are set to Demo phase with Previous + Demo set as the visibility. My remodel plans are set to Previous + New as the visibility.  I also have as-built plans that I'm using to create the existing model.  They're on the Existing phase with visibility set to Complete.
