Is this possible to do now in 2009 or 2010 MEP to schedule all elements of Plumbing or Mechanical systems?

I would like to be able to generate BOM's for these two systems.

For the piping, I dont know if each fitting (IE: 90 deg 1" el, 90deg 3/4" el, 1" Tee, 2x2x1 Tee, etc) can be scheduled seperately.  Revit seems to group them all the same.  Also, is ther a way to get the total amount of linear feet of 3/4" piping, 1" piping, etc?  AND, how do you count the connectors between pipes?  If I have a 50 foot run, thats 5 10ft sections, and 4 connectors?  Is there a way to do this?

Same goes for mechanical.  Is there a way to get an itemized listing of all ductwork and fittings?  If not automatically, could I build it with families, say a 10x10x59.5" rectangular duct, assembled end by end, so in a schedule it would list each segement, and each fitting.

I am just starting to play around with the schedules, but it seams things are currently limited.

Has anyone done this, tried it, or found it worthwhile or not worthwhile to do?

Schedules in REVIT are not limited very much at all.  THey are part of the power of REVIT. Every element in REVIT can be scheduled.

This might put you on the right path... include a column that is family type... filter by this column for  90deg3/4 el ...or whatever...  And hide the column.  (Probably don't want to show all instances and want a count and total fields)

Learn to use filters, sorts and hides to get what you want.  Explore and your will be amazed.
