Anyone know how or if you can modify how the "Disciplines" control under view/graphics affects display.  Or is it a Revit default?  Have had no success searching the help or internet.  This setting obviously changes how objects are displayed when you apply it.  Tying to understand how and if it can be customized.

You cannot modify, rename or add a discipline. The disciplines themselves are fixed. Here's some info that may help.

It depends on if you are using RAC/RST or RME. The impact of setting the view discipline in REVIT is not very well documented in the help menu and it missed out on a fair bit of important information. Too much to try to explain in a simple post.

A model view has the option to set the 'discipline'. If you are in RME for example and set the discipline to Mechanical or Electrical then the RAC / RST objects will follow the 'Underlay' settings (regardless if the objects are local or linked). If you are in RAC and set the discipline to Architecture the RME items follow the 'Underlay' settings. Discipline 'coordination' is a combination of RAC + RST.

The 'default discipline' to be applied to newly created views is specified in the 'Options' dialog box.

The discipline is usually the top sorting criteria for the Project Browser but RME uses Sub-Disiplines and Classifications as well to organize the project browser. Sub-disciplines and classifications are editable.

We have a brand new 'Getting Geared Up With RME 2010' training series that covers all of this and much more here > http://www.myvbooks.com/cadclipsstore/stores/1/Getting_Geared_Up_with_Revit_M_P210C27.jsp
