I am doing a PME job, and have hot, cold, water, and vent piping.

I have successfully created filters for all the above, so I can turn them on and off as needed, as well as change colors and linetypes as needed.  Works very well.

Very well except in one area.

The hot water and cold water pipes are part of the hot water distribution system and cold water distribution system respectively.  As such, the pipe fitting that join them are part of those systems, so when I have my filter change hot water piping to red, it changes all the piping and the fittings to red.

But for the waste and vent piping, it doesnt work that way.  Venting turns out to be part of the same system "sanitary" as the waste piping.  What happens is the vent piping is changed to red, but the pipe fittings are still green, for waste, as they are part of the sanitary system.

So, How can I either make a vent piping system, or make the fittings for the vent piping to change to be that of the vent piping?  I know I can do this manually, but I need it to be automatic.  In my filter I use the system name to control the filter, but with vent and waste, they use the same system name.

Hi, I would suggest using a Vent Pipe pipe type as described in a blog post I wrote last weekend to control the graphics display of vents independent of the remainder of the sanitary system.  There is a link to my blog in the signature below.

The type method is great, but also remember to create types for all of the respective fitting families too.

After this is complete you can edit the pipe type properties to pull in the correct type of fitting too.
