I have my site with 3 buildings on and im wanting to insert different finishes to the landscaping it for example tarmac grass etc. landscape the whole thing. How do i go about doing this? every time i try to use the topo tool and follow the lines on my siteplan that i am drawing over (cad import) the topo wont stik to where i am drawing the points,

You can split the surface of your topography and assign different materials to that split surface.

No ... as I said - split surface.  Then assign the correct material to that surface.

It depends what you are trying to do.  If you have a raised planter or something, then you would want to use the split surface.  Doing this will create two separate independant surfaces.  If you change the elevation on one surface, it won't change any other the elevations on the other surface.

If your landscape transitions do not change in elevation, then I would use the subregion command.  You can give the subregion a material (grass).  If you change an elevation point, it will affect your subregion because it is the same topo.

Sometimes on stuff like this, I create a new model and test both out and see what will work for my situation.  You can play with the options without affecting your model.
