Revit 2010 Ok, so I did a search and was trying to find my particular problem and was not finding the info I needed so I am going to ask the experts. I couldn't find a hollow metal door with sidelight in revit, so i used a really nice one with parameters from revit city. the problem is that the door size does not come into my schedule. So i opened the family, added a shared parameter under the other category, under instance, and text. (pretty much copied all the settings from a basic revit door that was working) I then loaded it into the project and my door size does not come up like all of the others. So I went to the project settings and parameters and added a new parameter called door size. I then went back to my schedule and there were two door size parameters (the one already there and working, and the one I added). So when I add the new one I made the door size comes up. This of course doesnt work because they all need to be in the same column. What did I do wrong. I obviouslly did something right to get it into the schedule but for some reason I cant get it to go to the right column. Thanks in advance.

In your new family, don't use the door size to cut your opening. Keep that parameter the same so that it schedules correctly. Instead, create a new parameter that uses your door size plus the sidelite to create your opening.

I am not following you very much. This is a door that I got from revit city. The door and sidelight are one unit that I placed into the wall with door size and sidelight size as different parameters. The door size is 7-10 and 3-0. Besides the door size parameter is a shared text parameter and can use any value I put it in. So what is happening is all my doors schedule and I am able to put the text value of 7-10 x 3-0 to schedule the door size. But when I add the text 7-10 3-0 in the new doors text shared parameter it doesnt show up in my door size column part of the schedule

First ... just because a family is here on RC doesn't mean it is good. Second ... why are you using text parameters for height and width when the stock door parameters work and schedule? Or are you hung up on seeing the units? If that is the case I think that is being foolish. Because we do it that way is not a good answer. In some cases it may be right but most times it needs to be evaluated and changed when appropriate. And this is one case where it is appropriate.
