I am in Revit Architecture 2009:  I thought it was possible to shade and change the shading colors of consultants linked views.  for example if i wanted the duct work to show as red in stead of blue i could change that color.  Where is this option or am i dreaming?

 Thanks,

Look at your over-ride options in VG for linked files.  Instead of by host view, you can set them as you wish.

As a user of RMEP. We always have to do this to change the floor pattern. I am sure this has frustrated you, obviously to the point that you are asking the community. Next time you create a floor with a surface pattern, think about if anyone else may want to be able to override that.

Eddie .. just want you to know I appreciate you fielding the MEP questions..

BTW ...Why not use view templates with floor finish patterns turned off?

WWhub.. I am here to serve the community as they had helped me so much when i began to learn the findamentals unfortunatly at that time i was pretty much on my own with the mep side of things.

We have incorporated that into our project template, though it seems that everytime we start a new job with a new architect there is always something that is just a little different that needs some tweeking.

I know how to control the linked models to a degree, i just thought there was a setiting on how to change the colors of the Mechanical and the plumbing and everyhting else.  See attached PDF.  In this PDF some setting is controlling all the plumbing to be red and all the mechanical to be blue.  If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.  Also this is when shaded with edges is turned on only.

Thanks,

this is one of 2 things in the mep model, it is either that the duct and piping has been literally been overriden with a solid pattern and color, to check this try going into the vg > revit links > change it to custom then on the model tab under duct, duct fittings, duct acces. you will see where you can override the pattern. the other likely thing it could be is a filter, which i do not believe can be controled through the revit links tab (you would have to open their file and remove them or turn them off). I am more inclined to think that the duct/pipe itself is overridden, you may also want to go into their model and check out the object styles, they may be overriden as well.
