Hi, Once a model is put together with several linked buildings, the file is large and when opening it takes forever to load etc. I would like to cut the links, but leave those buildings in place, albeit having no links. Can this be done? Thanks for assistance that anyone can shine on this.

The links are your other buildings so if you cut the links, you will not see them. The file size should not be much larger because of any links but it may take longer to load. You can manage that load through your links and also if you have set them up in worksets. If you told us a little more, maybe we could suggest better options.

Hi. I am trying to consolidate 4 linked files into one file. The links are individual components of the same building- much like worksets. I have just been tasked with completing this project, and the model is a mess- full of circular links, no worksets, and other wierd things. It's impossible to get anything done. Short of copying one entire file, and pasting it in the other (which it won't let me do because of the circular links), is there any other way to get all of my information in one file, and then set everything up on worksets like it should have been done from the beginning? Thanks! Micah

I build up construction camps - each building is a Revit file of 50 to 60 Mb in size. It is not uncommon to have anywhere from 50 to 300 buildings in one camp, one file. I want to import several buildings, cut the links then copy and paste more of the same with in the main drawing, So cutting the links would stop the reloading sequence when opening the main drawing with lots of buildings in it. I will sometimes create a smaller file of the the buildings by creating just building shells - Roof, walls, floor and foundatons - just to end up with a small building file for impoting into the main construction camp file - but still want to cut the links. Any suggestions. Ross again
