I'm working on a multi-level house, and when I try to insert a door I am told that "Can't cut instance of 30" x 84" out of Wall." Also, when I go to insert a component, it shows up on the First Floor Level, and I have to copy to clipboard and paste to the basement level. What am I doing wrong?

Whenever I go to the basement level's properties and click on "View Range" it tells me that the Associated Level is the First Floor. Is this the issue? How do I change that?

Your problem is with your views.  They were not created in association with the level.  In REVIT, you don't just copy a fllor plan, give it a new name and change it's view range. Learn to use your HELP because it is very good in REVIT.  Here is what it says:

Creating a Plan View

  1. Click View menu New Floor Plan, or on the View tab of the Design Bar, click Floor Plan.
  2. From the New Plan dialog, select one or more levels for which you want to create a plan view.
  3. If you wish to create a plan view for a level that has an existing plan view, clear Do not duplicate existing views.
  4. For Scale, select an appropriate view scale for the new view.
  5. Click OK.

Thank you! This is the solution that I finally found when googling the issue last night. I suppose I just didn't know the "correct" question to ask my help.

Very helpful tip. I just came accross this problem and I was chasing my tail to try and fix it. Made a new floor plan from the pull down menu and the problem resolved itself... such an odd problem
