  • I am trying to create a parametric louver which has variable number of horizontal blades depending on the size of the louver.  The louver has several parameters: width, height, frame thickness.  When I create the first horizontal blade and attach it to the frame, I flex the width and height parameters and the blade reacts properly, staying attached to the fame in all cases.  I then array the single blade to multiple blades and create an additional "number of blades" parameter so I can manually adjust the number of blades based on the height of the louver.  When I flex the new model by adjusting the height or width of the louver, I get an error message saying the constraints are not met and  the blades don't stay attached to the frame. The issue is in the array command: even thought the original blade was attached and locked to the frame the new arrayed blades are not.  I can't manually attach the other blades as the number is variable.  Any suggestions?

Create the array only with 2 blades, give the parameter and so one,  then you must attach with "align" tool the second blade to the ref. planes, then the array must work fine.

Thank you, the blades are working vertically: the number increases or decreases depending on the height of the louver.  But, they do not stay attached to the frame when I alter the width.  I attached the ends of the blades to a reference plan at the side frame...but no luck.  ????

You must check in plan view (change the cut plane to see the 2 blade if you need) if the blade are locked to ALL ref. planes envolved, go to the others elevation/section views and check again, there is something in that second blade it's not locked to the ref. planes.

In theory if I lock the two original blades properly all of the subsequent blades made from increasing the size of the louver should lock automatically?

I've tried locking the blades in both plan and elevation, double checked the locks and it still will not stay attached to the side frame @#%$$%$%$!@#(&%&?>, obviously an operator error.

I've narrowed the issue to the group and associate aspect of the array command, if I have a single blade or if I copy the blades they will adjust properly when I change the louver size.  When I array the blades and group and associate them all hell breaks loose.  Any help is appreciated. I've attached the file if that helps

I have the exact same issue, was a resolution to this ever found? When I stretch the width the blades (Or even Model Lines) don't get stretched to the new width. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

I too have played with the louvre family. I found that using reference lines worked much better than reference planes.
