Hi all, Is it possible to export a revit drawing to a DWG format without having to alter the dwg to match your office drafting protocol? ie. lineweights and layer assignment. The export layers settings table shows a 'profile' and 'cut' columns. However, If I set a pen type to represent a wall in section (cut) the pen setting for a wall in profile also changes to the same pen setting. I would like the wall to be shown in a different pen setting when in profile after I have exported the file to dwg. I can see how you map the layer names to match your exisitng office layering system but the pen settings are driving me nuts. cadjockey.

The reason all of the pen assignments are changing is that all of the wall sub-categories are being exported to the same layer. You will need to create new layers for walls in projection and walls that are cut (and all of the other sub-categories) Revit is unable to assign more than one pen type to a single layer. Hi ABarrette, I was hoping this wasn't the case. This will mean changing our existing autocad layer protocol. Change isn't dealt with very well in our office. I am trying to convince my boss that revit is the way to go. Being able to export revit drawings into dwg is a major factor in argueing my case. I guess I will have to sell him on the idea that revit will save time and money in creating working drawings from the outset. Our office is currently using archicad to produce 3d however, revits ability to understand a project beyond the point of pretty pictures for the client is a serious plus. cadjockey.

Feel free to call me stupid but if I need to create two separate layers, walls in projection and walls in cut within my export settings table, why are there two columns named projection and cut in the table? I see this table allowing me to set to different pen settings for a layer with the same name depending on whether it is projection or cut. cadjockey
