Every time I try to load my family into any of our existing projects revit crashes. It loads into new projects just fine. the journal error is as follows: 0.169317 1:<<MFCDoc::OnOpenDocument [S:\Revit MEP 2010\Imperial Library\HA Content\HVAC\Heat pumps\HEAT PUMP CLIMATE MASTER LEFT RETURN.RFA] ' 1:--Post event status Succeeded ' 1:--API application event DocumentOpened returned status DidNotRaise ' 0:< DBG_WARN: Mismatched external parameter definitions! GUID='ffc21ae8-b4a4-438c-9e61-e06d8a01a40c' Existing parameter: Name='PRESSURE DROP' ParamType='15', '-1', '39' New parameter: Name='PRESSURE DROP WATERSIDE' ParamType='15', '-1', '39': line 682 of .\Elem\FamilyUI.cpp. 'C 06-Aug-2009 10:14:29.467; 0:< Assertion failed: line 688 of .\Elem\FamilyUI.cpp ' 0:< Exception occurred then it goes into the routine crash info. I have deleted my parameter called "pressure drop waterside from both the family, and the shared parameter file.... no change, same error.

Are trying to load a family that was created in 2010 into a project that was originally created in 2009 (or earlier) but upgraded to 2010?

no, these files were all created and inserted into a 2010 format. Interestingly enough, this error has occured again in a new part. the only common denominator in both files was a shared parameter entitled "pressure drop waterside" when I recreated the part without that parameter, it inserted correctly. I could not just delete the parameter and re-insert. Im running with it as-is, and not using "pressure drop waterside". I would however like to know what if anything can corrupt a shared parameter (but the the whole shared parameter file), and how to prevent this from happening again in the future.
