This is not an export, it is a print....  If you have the drivers installed as a printer, your choose PDF from the print menu.

I have a request for one of my floor plans to be emailed in pdf form, Do I email the reivit file in which the client may open it with adobe pdf, or will it remain a rvt file and require that person to have revit to open it.?

ADOBE has nothing to do with Revit!  You print from Revit to a PDF format which everybody typically can read because almost everyone has adobe reader on their machine.

As I said.  If you have an PDF driver setup on your machine, you will find it from your Print menu in REVIT.  If you don't have it, you will have to install it.  There is a free one on the internet called CutePDF.

YOU EMAIL THE PDF file after you print the PDF out of REVIT.

if you e-mail an rvt, it remains as such.  that being said, to produce a pdf you will need the following:

firstly do you have a pdf converter?

-i personally use cute pdf, but you can also use pdf 995 and there are others.

next:

you will need to set up a sheet.  you are not converting or exporting your drawing.  you are pirnting it...

it just so happens that you are printing it through a pdf converter which will create a new file in the form of a pdf.

i hope that answers your question.  you can find the pdf converters mentionned above by simply running a search for those names and yes they are free... though pdf 995 has adds which pop up and they annoy the hell out of me, which is why i use cute pdf.

additionnally there are other threads at the bottom of this page which will likely go into greater detail.
