Hi All, Our office has an office drafting standard which includes particular AUTOCAD layers to be used in any project. I would like to export drawings I have created in Revit to a .dwg file and have respective elements from the revit project reside in the same layers as our AUTOCAD layering system. ie. door elements in doors layer, window elements in windows layer etc. It will take some time for our office to convert over to revit. As this happens there will be some people using revit and others autocad on the same project. Can someone please point me to a good tutorial that shows me how to do this? cadjockey PS: The ability to do this without drama will be the deciding factor in whether our office will begin the transition to revit.

Hi all, I have been playing with the export dwg settings table. When setting the line weights for lines in cut why do the line weights in projection also change to the same line weight? For example, all of the walls whether in projection or cut export in the same line weight. I would like to export the drawing showing the wall in the backgound in a thinner line and only have the wall that is in section in a thicker line. Just as I am able to within revit using the object styles. Also, If I try to adjust the wall sweep category within the export setting table only to a different line weight the entire wall line weights change to this setting also. Help also, I have the same problem as cadjockey.I'm working in an office using CAD & Revit & need to know the best way to export revit dwg's into our cad layers. I've been playing with the export box - layers and understand it's possible to import our cad layers here but do not know how to change the cad layer format to a text format ? is this possible ? is this the best way to go about it ?

bernice,

Read the help file under "exporting layers"   that will explain how to create or modify your layer mapping file.
