I am having problems with the materials parameter.

this is the dialog box where you want to assign a material to the part in the family types. so what do I pick so that when i import this part into my project I can change the instnaces of color to my toilet model. ie one is white, one is cream color...etc...

ive set up a materials parameter "instance" so i can change it, but it doesnt change in the project. stays one color.
