Hello,

Is it possible to schedule cased openings? I have created a label I want to use to call cased openings out on floor plans, but the schedule function does not seem to want to let me apply that label to the cased openings or create a schedule.

Thanks.

If you are using the out of the box cased opening, it is just a door.  Make a door schedule, and name it and filter it accordingly.

I started by trying to place the cased opening (out of the box) in a door schedule, but it won't apply a door tag to the opening. that was why I created my own tag for it. Can you tell me what filter settings to use so that it will tag and schedule the openings?

thanks.

I'm sorry ... it looks like I was wrong.  The out of the box is a generic model.  We must have modified ours.  You can do the same, just edit the family and set the category to door.  Now you can tag it with a door tag (or modified tag if you want) and schedule it just like a door.

I appreciate your looking into this for me. Tell me if I'm going through the right path.  I go to edit the family, I go to Modify Parameters, Shared parameters, and then go to Select shared parameters.

then in the Program file, there is a file called IFC shared parameters.txt. when I go to load that, it tells me that the file can't be read or is an invalid type. Is this the file I should be loading to change the family type to door, or am I completely off the rails here?

To change the cased opening family to a door family, simple edit the family and under settings/category and parameters, select door.  Your done.

...I went to modify paramters instead of anything in the family types field, because it doesn't appear that there is a selection to allow you to switch family types from general models to door. you can start a new type, rename, or delete, but not switch from one type to another.
