Hi,

Was wondering if anyone knew how to do this.

I've been reading some other forums but I actually still don't get it.

so I have this central file which i want to make a totally independant file from so I can play around in it.  But for some reason everytime i detach from central file, save as a new name there always seems to be a central file after.  but the thing is i'm reading that it makes its own central file.  i understand this but now i can't move some of the objects because it says it can't obtain permission.

 problem #2:

In this same file I am trying to imprt a autocad file so I can start working on the site with the autocad as an overlay.  It doesn't seem to show up or Its there and I am not able to see it.  Does anyone know how I can fix this problem as well.

Thanks

Once U enable worksets, there will always be a central file.  When you open a central file detached, it is ppotentially a new central file but you need to save it as such.  You can always then open this new central, work in it, then do a save to central then just quit out of it if you don't want a local.

Linked files are linked.  You can noty edit a linked CAD file inside REVIT.  But you can edit it outside Revit then reload it in Revit.
