Hello All, I am using revit MEP 2010 it would make my life easy if i could draw a building then lay a autocad drawing it and place my ducts in 3d overtop of it. That way i dont have to dimension every little thing. Is there any way to do this?

You can reference and CAD drawing into Revit by linking. Go to the "file" drop down, and select "import/link." Also, if you don't have a cad plan, you can export to dwg in order to do what you want to do. I have say that this sounds a bit counter-productive, as the idea behind Revit is to eliminate the need for CAD style drawings. I'm not sure if the time and energy used to set up the CAD drawing for the layout in order to model the ducts via a linked overlay outweighs spending the same amount of time to learn the right way to do it in Revit. Anyway, I hope this helps.

your right it is but when the people give us the drawings and its no extra work for us why not use them... it has to save time over dimensioning everything.....
