Hi all, I was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a solution to a problem I am having. Is there any way to split segment of an elevation like you can split a section line?? (I am working in 2010). I need to show an elevation of one side of a building that kinks at one end. The problem occurs where another building close by gets cut by the elevation line. I have hidden elements in the elevation view of the building i want to be omitted but evertime i add something new to that building its not hidden and appears in the elevation. Because of the size of the buildings it is sometimes hard to ensure i have hidden all elements that should not appear. Can i achieve a split or is there any other way i can stop this from happening?? (obviously i could use the section tool to acheive an elevation but then i wont have an elevation mark on my plan)

This i don't understand but, YES you can split "segment of an elevation like you can split a section line" activate the "Crop Region" then it's just like in Section view....

Ive attached an image of the basic problem im having. As you can see the elevation mark cuts through a building so that the top corner of building A is not cut out of the elevation. As you can see the section line kinks. Is there any way to do that with an elevation line so that i can omit building b completely?

Sorry but I don't know any way to adjust your view plane to exclude building but there are other options: - Do two elevations and paste them side by side on the sheet. You can bump them into place visually.
- I don't know what these buildings are. If the were done in seperate worksets or phases, they can be filtered out of view.
- Have two windows open at the same time - tiled... one the elevation and the oter a 3d or site plan view where you can select all elements of building B then switch to the other window and hide in view.

This is a new feature in Revit 2014 - you can split segments of elevations, just like you can do with sections. In a plan view, select the elevation plane and "split segment" will show up in the contectual ribbon. It seems to be very problematic however. It does not always work properly for me...
