Hello all! First time poster here. My question is regarding extrusions. My office recently began using Revit Structure 2010. I had in the past been using the 2009 version and seem to remember being able to create extrusions, sweeps, blends, revolves what have you directly inside a project file. Now it seems as though these tools are only available when creating a family. The only similar tool seems to be the In-Place Mass under the Architect & Site tab. Are you able to manipulate an In-Place Mass to bend and change it's shape? Or is there a tool I'm just missing somewhere? I'm sure the answer is simple and I'm just not seeing it, but any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers,

the regular massing tool you are refering to in 2009 has been replaced in 2010 with the Conceptual Massing tool that is much like sketchup and give you much more function that the old massing tool. If you are looking to stick with the old way of massing just do an in-place family and put it in the Mass category

If you want the OLD Create-In-Place go to Home>Component>model in place, the OLD mass is in MAssing and Site....

Thanks for the quick reply alabaster, I have created masses using the Conceptual Massing tool and I'm sort of getting the idea of adding multiple profiles to the mass in order to manipulate the shape. What I'm wondering is if there's an easy way of say, using a single profile and having it follow a specific path similar to a sweep. Or do I have to manipulate multiple profiles in order for my shape to follow that path. (I hope I'm making sense here ) What I'm trying to do basically is make an arch that follows a radiused path. Also if it's not too much trouble could someone explain to me how to make an In-Place family? Thanks for any and all help Cheers,

if you run into that problem again trying to find a command there is a tool built into Revit 2010 you can use. Click the drop down arrow next to the ? mark on the top right of the Revit user interface, there you will find a function called "where is my command?" it outlines where you find commands in the new UI vs the old one.
