Hi guys I'm noob but i need some help. I have been making freeform objects with mass for awhile, but i learned that mass doesn't like to show up and i want a solid object. I learned about the create tool in modeling, and it makes things from already existing families (i presume?) The only probelm with this is that there is no stairs option to select from in the box. I don't like the stairs option in revit because it doesn't fill in the area underneath the stairs. Can someone help me out here?

Ok, 1)- to "show" the mass or you go to VG in that view and you turn ON the mass or in the Menu bar you have the icon "Show mass", you can turn on/off but my advise is, use only the "Mass" to create the shape/form you want then you can apply slabs, walls, roofs and curtains systems.

2)-  "I learned about the create tool in modeling, and it makes things from already existing families (i presume?)" - this is what"we" call "Create-in-place, don't push to much of this because you gonna see it increase the size of the file, is preferable to create a "Family".

3)- " it doesn't fill in the area underneath the stairs" - You want a "Solid block" under the stairs or if you create a wall at the face of the stairs you solve the problem?

1) oh that is cool. I knew how to show/hide but that is perment. Saves time

2) Why does it increase the size of the file/ Doesn't it just make a new object?

#) Face of the stairs? Where do u click to drag wall to and from?

In place families are for one place.  If you copy an in-place family to a new location, another in-place family is created.  That is where the file size is increased.

Not sure what your question is about the wall.  When we have a stair that we want enclosed, we build a wall along the side of the stairs under the stringer just like in the real world.  To put the slope on the top of the wall to fit under the stair, use the edit profile tool.
