I'm using Revit Architecture 2009, and what I am trying to do is create a wall with an irregular (but rectilinear) grid of reveals. I am modeling the reveal after a product manufactured by Fry-Reglet that consists of extruded aluminum that is used to form the reveal. Basically, I am wondering if it is possible to have the reveal/sweep/mullion consist of both an element that creates a void in the hosted wall, and also inserts the solid extrusion.

Please see the attached picture. This was done as a wall sweep, but it might make more sense for me to build it as a mullion family. Any thoughts?

Make a new wall based family. (if this wraps a corner then it becomes more complicated and you might be better off with a combination of sweeps and voids within the wall structure). Use a void to cut the hole (cut the wall inside of the family) and a extrusion to show the reveal.

To create that, i create a profile in a family "Metric/Imperial Hosted Profile" and in Settings>family category and parameters change the "Profile usage" to Wall Sweep to create that profile with Modelling>Host sweep>Wall sweep, then use the wall reveal to create the "void" where you want, so if the wall made corners the Wall sweep and the wall reveal don't have any problems to do that.... Just an idea....
