I have a room that isn't very big called "BOX OFFICE" but in order for the text to stack on top of each other i had to add a bunch of space in the title. so the room tag looks right in plan. but on my schedule it shows

"BOX              OFFICE"

like that with all the spaces in it. i tried using "\x" like you can in CAD to make text multi line. but that didnt work. i know i can turn the text vertical but it still wont fit in the room. does anyone have and suggestions has how to make this show up right in both plan and schedule?

I attached a picture to show what i am going for.

Any help would be great, thanks!

 Allen

Initially I did what you did but that messes up the room schedule.  Now I have three solutions - neither of which is great.  One is to make a different room tag that has a smaller fixed width that will split names like this into two lines.  The trouble is, you might need a couple of those.  Another solution is to have a room tag with a narrow text .8% or .9% and finally I also added a shared parameter for an abbreviated room name - assigned that to rooms then created a room tag that uses that.

Thanks Hub,

We just switch to Revit in our office from CAD, im trying to get alot of the simple problems fixed so the older guys wont have to deal with it. i havent really learned how to use and set up shared parameters yet but its on the top of my list of things to read up on. can you send me any forum links that talk about setting up shared parameters?

 Thanks again,

Allen

Always start with your HELP.

Then do a search (forums) using shared and you will find some good threads.

Also llok at our links.  Under cadclips, they have a free tutorial on shared parameters for title sheets that will teach you some of what you need to know. http://www.cadclips.com/Revit-2009-CadClips.htm

You can do what you did, or in the edit schedule (rooms), use the <shift return> to create multi-line text.

BUT be aware that in your edit scedule, you will see only the first line of the room name and when placed on a sheet, the field will be a multi-line field that will never be smaller.

Adjust text box size in Room Tag family.  See here:
