Hi, I'm a lighting consultant using revit to draw lighting desing layouts onto house plans. I use arcs to connect the fixtures to the wall switches. I need to see the floor plan, the lighting fixtures, the electrical fixtures and the lines in plan mode. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, any ideas? I've tried all sorts of visibility combinations, to no avail.
I would appreciate any information that could further me in this process. Thanks

Are you using Drafting lines, those are good to use for drafting on 2D plans, etc. Lights can be viewed in a reflected ceiling plan, I don't know if you want to view the fixtures in plan or in RCP mode. Hopefully this shed some light to your problem. If you send a jgp of your problem then I can better answer your question.

To show the lighting fixtures in plan...
One method is to edit the lighting families and add an invisible model line that runs from the lighting fixture to the ground. Due to the visibility of the lighting fixtures, if any of it is cut, the whole element displays. So in plan your cut plane would then cut the invisible line and your lighting fixture should display.
HTH.

Thanks for your input, I really appreciate it. I've attached two drawings of a recent job. Combined, I get all the elements I'm looking for, but I can't seem to get them on the same view. The L shaped rectangles represent the bar and the three circles represent light fixtures.
Thanks again
I'll attach the next one on the next reply.

The other option and perhaps easiest is to just drag the two views over the top of each other on the sheet. (floor plan & RCP with the elements of each visible that you want to see)
They'll snap into place automatically.

How do they "snap' to each other automatically? Also when you are in a RFC plan how do you put in light fixtures? It says to pick a ceiling but it doesnt place the fixture when I try to put one in.

As you drag the ceiling view over the floor view, there will be a vertical green line and a horizontal green line...when you see both...CLICK. It works great!
