ok it has been a while since i have worked with revit and i am now back in it.  What i am trying to do is adjust the box around the room number and when i am in the family rfa I can't draw lines or even see the one the comes in once it is inserted in the rvt file.

also when in the family file i get the message that the lines are not visible in sheet view but i can't get them in any view .

 thanks in advance

I think the revit supplied room tag has the lines turned off. Type VV or VG and turn on the lines.

Wierd, in the "Room Tags" family, are you using Room tags lines or invisible lines?

In the family editor, type VG open the annotations category tag and check the box "show annotation categories in this view".
