Hi all. I work as a designer and 3d artist for an Architectural firm in Houston, and we are in the middle of the migration process from AutoCAD to Revit. We've been working for a couple of months in the creation of a fully customized template that hopefully will allow us to incorporate all of our AutoCAD custom tools.

Does anybody know hoy to include and integrate BOMA Standards into a Revit project (building, rentable and usable area calculations)? Is there a tool for that in Revit? A Plugin maybe?

Any information greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Daniel Arango

i'm just curious, what kind of Autocad custom tools would you want to incorporate in Revit? are taking about things that are done in autocad thru the use of a plugin and if there is comparable plugin for Revit ?

Hi Coreed, thank you for your post.

By customized AutoCAD tools I mean simple and basic auto-lisp tools that allow you to perform diverse drafting and design activities, as generating area polylines in the right linetype/weight and layer (I know we don't have to care about layers anymore in Revit) or more complex tasks as creating schedules with formulas to perform BOMA calculations according with the standard.

Thanks...

Building Area Plans and Rentable Area Plans are standard plans with area labels and tables that can be easily made and modified in Revit.

Sure, Mbsteve, but when you have to work on these kind of plans on a daily basis, any possible automation will save you a lot of time and money. That's what Revit and BIM are about, aren't they? I am pretty sure they may be tools to configure schedules and calculations according to specific standards, as BOMA.

Thanks.
