Can someone explain how to hide the mesh lines on families imported from dwg etc? eg cars

You need to use autocad, max, or some sort of program that allows the editing of "Edges". Within max, you need the object to be a editible mesh, then selected edges, pick the edges you need to hide, and make them invisible (or hide, or something like that, i dont remember the specifics). There is also a Autoedge feature, that will use some tolerances to clean up the edges, then you can manually clean up the rest.

I think you can do the same thing in autocad, the item just needs to be a mesh, not a solid. you can select the edges, and hide them in the properties window.
