I created a host sink family with nested components of different types of sinks with visibility settings depending on the Family Type (So the one host sink family has double, single, and triple basin TYPES). This host sink family is loaded into a counter family, and labeled with a "sink type" perameter, so you can select what type of sink shows up in the countertop. The counter family works great but when I load it into my project the sink doesn't show up! (see attached screenshots) Revit2009

 Help?

Have you checked the obvious to make sure that the plumbing fixtures are set to be On in the visibility settings?

All the View Graphics settings are turned on in the project... I openened the counter with "edit family" from the project and it opened without a sink. when I went into Family Types and selected another family type the sink appeared and began working normally... attached screenshots of family and project (with visible floating sink in background) AND attached family file

I just tested your family by loading it into a project and I could see the sinks fine.  Although when I changes sinks to a different type there were multiples visible under some circumstances and they jump around a bit...

As such the issue appears to be with the view your looking at in rather than the family...

Even when I just make a new project (ctrl+n) and load the family into it the sinks are not there... VG settings are on, sink families are listed in the project browser... i have no idea where else to look... I have a feeling it is because of the multiple layers of nesting (the 4 sink types nested into the host kitchen sink family which is nested in the countertop family) because when i replace the kitchen sink with a simple family I have no problems. I tried to fix the problems you mentioned - here's a similar updated family

No attached file?  I used RAC2010 in my testing and they were definitely showing in plan & 3D view...  There is nothing wrong with the family setup for the visibility.   Sounds like the issue could be in your standard template?  OR 2009 issue?

yeah sorry the upload keeps crashing... I'm assuming it's a problem with 2009 - what in the standard template would affect that kind of visibility? again, when i use a simple sink family nested into the counter top it works... it's only a problem when the sink family contains its own nested families (to acheive the multiple sink types in the one counter family)

Possibly if the Discipline option is not be set to "Architectural".  That could potentially cause it.

I checked the family for things like Coarse, Medium & Fine visibility changes and they were always turned on meaning that couldn't be the issue.
