I am a novice in Revit and I will be starting a new project where the shell and core are being designed by another firm, that does not use Revit. I need to know what the best approach is in this case. I don't want to burn up my time building the shell which is in a Design development stage. But I do want to be able to realize the space in 3D.

What program has the shell been created in? If you can get into some sort of 3D dwg file you could use that however if its all 2D and you want in 3D there is no other option other to model it? Unfortunately revit doesn't have an automatically build the rest of the building button... jk

Thanks for the reply. The Architects are using arch desktop. As a novice would it be better to avoid any problems in the exterior and only create the interior walls in revit? Any advice is wecome.

Well i'd suggest if they are using ADT that you link a DWG model of the shell and core that will allow you realise the space. Then you can just unload the link when it not needed.
