If its flat or a simple slope then use slab edges. If complicated falls then there is no easy way and will have to resort to in-place families with various sweeps.

Heres another way that i found.....works great!!!!

1. create your topo surface as you usually would

2. draw a reference line at your edge of curb. this line will make it extremely easy to create everything using offsets

3. select 'split surface' and separate your different areas (grass, curb, gutter, road) this is made simple by selecting the reference line each time and hitting tab to select all. offset the line as needed to make the correct size curb, gutter, exc.

4. to create the vertical curb edge, do another 'split surface' on either side of the original curb line. the split surfaces will need to be 1/2" offset each side. this will create the top and bottom of the vertical surface.

5. in elevation view, move the road, curb, and one of the two 1/2" down 6"

6. you now have a 1/2" wide surface at elev. 0 and a 1/2" wide surface at elev -6

7. click the 'merge surfaces' button, select the lower 1/2" split surface, and the upper 1/2" splite surface. this creates the vertical.

 Hope this helps Christine
