I am building a family that is vertical that will be locked a certain distance off the finished floor. the height of said object i want to be locked to whatever the ceiling height would be. is there a way to do this within the family for the length specified in the formula to use the height of the ceiling in the room? or any other ideas to auto adjust the height of the object to match that of the ceiling height would be appreciated. thanks. j.

The only way to get Revit to jump to the ceiling is to make the family ceiling based. I think what you want is to make the family's height an Instance Parameter. When you stretch the family to the ceiling you can "lock" it in the project.
