We have just upgraded to Revit 8 and are trying to work out how to send plot files to our printing bureau (we print off-site). We have sent PDF's but they always look a little heavy. Any suggestions for how to send plot files to an OCE TDS800 would be appreciated including: which driver to download from OCE for windows XP system. thanks in advance.

We also primarily print off site, and send PDF's to the printers. However there is a significant difference between plotting with the Revit PDF writer and Adobe PDF writer. The Adobe writer produces clearer drawings with virtually no distortion as compared to the Revit PDF Writer. Or edit the pen/line weights for a PDF plot to reduce the "heavy appearance." Hope this helps.

PDFs work great(most of the time), but if the printer has the latest Reprodesk Plu-in for DWF printing, I would write DWFs, the rasterization of the shadows on views is clearer(which is a problem with the PDfs) Hope this helps.

emilio, i will describe to u the way i am sending drawings so they can be printed off site. Go to file "print" and then from the print range select views/sheets.Then click on set up under settings and arrange your printing settings.Click on "plot to file" which will give your file a *.prn extension. When you send this files to the printing bureu tell them to click on "open all files cause i know that oce printers are set up to open dxf files only. currently i am using tds400 and i have downloaded the drive from the oce site for windows xp as well. Hope that helped.
