Hi. First of all this site has been a great help to me so thanks to all who have replied! My latest problem is as follows...i have OS map in its correct Northings and Eastings co-ordinate position and a separate OS DTM file also in its correct NE co-ordinate position. In AutoCAD when i overlay them with a base point of 0,0 they overlay just fine (see pic 1) but in Revit they dont (see pic 2). I have changed the revit drawing unit setting to metres as in the Autocad dwgs  then made a Toposurface of the DTM file, then im inserting the cad file of the OS. Ive tried many ways of insertion but cant get them to overlay properly, nor find out which one is actually in the wrong position! thanks in advance

When importing or linking I would try Origin to origin. If that doesn't work you will need to either find 0,0,0 and move the Revit Model ( i wouldn't ) or move the linked file on top of revit. Revit will remember the location if you ever need to reload it.
