Hey everyone

I am doing a project at the moment where I have to model some appliances and upload them to a clients website for download.

they want the downloads in file formats so that they can be used in Archicad, Autocad, Microstation, Vector works etc. I have

been looking into IFC conversions but when ever I go to use it the icon is dull grey and not usable. Will I then have to go into

these programs to convert the drawings to their specific family or library part file extension or can I do if from elsewhere

, does anyone have any tips on how to use this? Also what is the best format for the files to be used in Autocad as famalies?

sorry If my questions are a bit unclear. i am a bit unclear on it all myself

thanks in advance

Are you trying to export to IFC within the family file? I dont think that you can export a single family to and IFC file format. I think revit wants you to export the project.

You might have to actually create the items in each program to get full functionality from them. (instead of importing the exported revit model). You can probably use the export as a base, but might have to redraw/model some things.

There is no method to do what you want...sorry.  Each program you state has it's own unique rules.  You can't even go from AutoCAD to REVIT or vica versa and preserve any of the parametrics that might be built into families/blocks and both of those programs come from AutoDESK.

Through IFC, you can exchange much of the overall project data.
