Only the outline of the wall shows in coarse, medium, and fine detail. The sheet rock on either side of the metal stud core shows on the interior walls but the wythes of brick don't show in plan. Is there a setting or view component that I have wrong?

Check your pahse filters. If set to show complete it should show everything. Including all the details.

These walls are existing walls which, apparently, defaults them to outline only in plan. Seems to me that graying out existing walls is OK, but why not leave the basic detail visible? You were right. It WAS a phasing problem.
