My company is currently going through the process of integrating Revit09 into our design and documentation process, and I have taken on the task of figuring out how to do full BOMA calculations in Revit. A significant portion of our work as a company is in corporate and commercial, so we do BOMA charts all the time. I have learned to do the area plans and use the area rules that Revit understands, but I havent found a way to build an actual BOMA chart with the schedule tools. It seems to me that there are plenty of people willing to say that Revit will do BOMA based on the fact that it has some built in rules that it understands (even though it doesnt actually understand ALL of them), but no one has demonstrated that they have an actual BOMA chart built in Revit. The only instances I can find are people using other platforms and importing the data from Revit to build the chart separately. The first issue seems to be that we typically list each floor as a line, and include gross measured area, major penetrations, floor common, etc. for that floor. It doesnt seem that Revit will allow me to list each area plan on a single line, and total area types (ie major penetrations, floor common areas) to include in a single field on that line. I think if that was solved, getting the rest to fall into place wouldnt be too big a task. Its difficult to explain in text, but I know its a common method for documenting BOMA. If anyone out there has actually done this I would be very grateful for some guidance! thanks! -tyler
