Today is my first day switching to Revit and so far it's not going so well.  But I have made a tiny bit of progress but currently it is placing both Mechanical and Plumbing under the mechanical discipline.  My understanding is this will create an issue later if I want them on separate drawings so I'd like to make plumbing a separate discipline.  How do you do this?  If I'm making this more complicated than it needs to be, what are the alternatives?

Thanks for the assistance.

All you need to do it hide the elements you don't want to see by using view properties.

Thanks.  That seems simple enough but with only a few hours of Revit experience now, nothing is simple.

After you have copied your plan and turned on/off what you want through VG settings (not view properties), select create view template from view.  That will give you a template you can always apply to the view to assure you have it set up correctly

also to add to what wwhub has said, dont under estimate the usefulness of filters...or workset visibility when you get there.
