Hey all..

I have succesfully linked/imported DWG site plans before. The surveyor i use uses triangular height points and i use them to make my topography.

I recently tried to import this a site plan into my model, and the 2D aspect of it was right on the money, sitting at the foot of my model, but the triangular height points were waaaaaaaaaaaaay off....even though i have my model sitting at the correct elevation.

Is this a CAD file issue? or can i fix this within Revit?

Are there better ways of doing this? Since i was never shown, I just kind of figured it out on my own

any help is MUCH appreciated

The issue is with the cad file. the points are not the same as the elevations that revit is using. You can either bring the site back down to level one or you can move you model up to where the site is. You should check the points in the CAD file to see what the elevations are.

Hi, there is an explode button for CAD imports but don't use it.  Your best option is to fix the file in CAD.  It looks like your title block is from the cad file also.  You need to bridge the gap between the title block and the site plan.  You might want consider creating the terrain in Revit anyway.  Revit terrain is also created with points so ff you can find the elevation of the points from the surveyer this would make modelling much easier inside of Revit because you can cut pads to alter the its surface.  good luck

ill have some time tonight to try and ill see how i go... Im not too sure how to fix the site in CAD, but ill figure it out hahaha (dont have much experience with site plans since I work mainly with plans and JUST got into architecture work recently)

Ill try making the terrain in Revit too, i got the surveyors plan with all the correct height points, so i have that info. Ill look around for a tutorial on that so i can do it Puh

thanks alot, appreciate the help and time
