Is it possible to pause a rendering and then restart it so that my computer can be used for other things?

I want to do a detailed rendering, but with a wife and 4 kids, it's hard to find the time to make it happen! lol

Thanks in advance, you've all been very helpful.

Cant be done within revit. Best thing is to let it run overnight if your looking for a high quality image.

Pause a render in Max and reboot? dont think so. In Max you can render certain regions of a camera then compile them in photoshop or similar program.

I don't mean rebooting the computer. I was just wondering if there is a way to pause the render and then use the computer for other things, like checking emails and such, and then resume the render again.

Still no... You could still do other things while rendering other than work within revit. You may want to look into getting dual screens even a small one that way it would allow you to move the revit to one screen and still have a clean screen open to work with. And obviously the last thing that would affect time and performance is the type of computer that you are using.

you can go into your task manager and set the affinity of the program to only use 3 processors (if you are on a quad-core) and that will free up a processor for other PC apps. It will increase your render time on the down side.
