i was wondering if there is a solution for vertically stacked items that appear on the same wall. ex: wall receptacles that are directly beneath one another but at different elevation heights. on the plan view it appears the receptacle symbols are overlapping each other, and it becomes a mess. when you offset the symbol off the wall, the 3D model follows it creating an incorrect elevation view. basically, the rough-in view of the wall box is following the 2D view of the symbol.

any way around this?

p.s. ive tried creating a parameter called "symbol offset" and using a dimension bewteen the 2D symbol and a reference plane, but the symbol still automatic snaps to a wall and will not leave the surface it is mounted to. when you go to offset it, again the 3D model follows

nvm. i found a solution. the symbol was an 'annotation' i had to edit the family that the actual symbol was bound to. adding an offset parameter for the symbol alone was the key. this may help anyone that designs rough-ins and has the challenge of populating condense areas or places where devices stack vertically. thanks for the help P
