Did you enable worksharing before you had the problem?  Try opening Revit, browse for your file, check the box that says "detach from central" and click open.  If it is worksharing, try creating a new central file location.  Not sure if this will help without looking at the file personally but good luck

Sounds like a folder permissions issue.  Do you have write permissions on the folder location where the document is located?

thanks for trying to help me.. i browsedto the file and check "Detach from Central"and got this message:

WorkSharing has not been enabled in this file, so "Detach from Central" option wasignored.

so i clicked ok on that and the next dialogwas this:

"This file is already open for editing by another user. You will be unable to saveany changes before that user closes the file"..

what this is meaning to me is that i can no longer save work on my project and the whole thing is lost if i can't fix this..

does anyone know what this is?

wait a minute- the program crashed (that's rare) and it saved a

"recovery" copy- that copy is fine.. those messages are not

supposed to be.. i'll just delete those corrupt saved copies..

thanks very much reviteers..

Its not in Revit its windows explorer, check that someone hasn't set the file to be read only or that you have full write permissions in the security permissions for the file and the folder that it exists in.
