i imported a sketchup building and i want to change the shape of it and i tried everything and it won't change.. if i click on it it turns red and i hit the edit button on the options bar but that doesn't let me change anything.. if i click on it again with that border it all turns solid red with buttons on the options bar that says delete layers- full explode- partial explode- visability and query.. i tried all of them and it got me nowhere.. what am i missing?

Simple, the SKP or ACIS solid imported from SketchUp or Autodad, Rhino and so one, it's like a "Block", just like in Cad, You can't change the Shape like you do in Revit, i don't recommend to explode, if you want create the "Mass Volumetry" in those softwares then import to Revit and apply "Walls, floors, roofs and curtains systems" to those masses.... If you want to change anything do it in those softwares before import to Revit...
