I'm thinking this is impossible but I thought I would ask the public.

I've made different lengths of section tails and I can use them all in a project.

The problem is that if I'm cutting a Detail 2/S402 with a short line then every 2/S402 section placed throughout the project will use this short line.

I can then make a different detail say.. 15/S303 with a medium line and every section with 15/S303 will have a medium line.

This seems to be a unique type of situation where it is a linked property in a view and Revit is considering all sections with a specific reference an aspect of one individual view. Very type parameter like. But still sort of different.

What  I want to be able to do is alter the length of section tail on an instance parameter type basis.

Once again, I'm thinking this is impossible but if somone could confirm/deny/speculate, I would appreciate it.

THANKS

Darn ... I've never tried that, why don't you give it a shot and let us know?

Actually once you have made a reference to a view it is set.  You are only allowed to have 1 reference tag type for that view, another words it is view specific.  If you have a section cut in plan and want it to look different in elevation, say a detail callout, it cannot, they have to be the same, the plan tag would change to a detail cut as well.

This same idea goes for "Dummy" references.  If you have a real tag on the floor plan and ad a "sim" tag all of the dummy tags will be sim in that view even iof they refernec another view.  If you place another dummy tag and want to make it "not sim" it isn't possibe unless it is a different view type.

Bozaloshsch,

I was thinking that a little work from the poster would be more worthwile than a quick answer....
