I still use Autocad on some sections, etc. My problem is when I reload I lose the dimensions even though that dimensioned object might not have changed (the .dwg changed on another part). I dimension and annotate using Revit.

Tried that, no luck. It does this 99 % of the time...Occasionally, the dimensions will stay. Can't figure out the patten.

try creating a workset just for the section link and import the section link into the workset. that should solve your problem of losing dimemsions when reloading.

coreed.. i tried to do what you suggested but i am still having problem..i link the cad drawing to drafting view with craeting a different workset.. but whenever i reload same cad file, some of my dimension erased eventough any changed made related objects.. i dont know why some stay some erased.. any suggestion??

As a quick solution. I drew thin lines where I wanted to locate dims..then dimensioned to them so the dim was associated to the line not the imported dwg. If I had to reload I could then just move the lin(s) as needed. Wasn't so bad. One thing, if you've already dimensioned and added to the dim. text string (ie: Head Ht. = blah blah) and then you re-associate to the lines after the fact you will lose this info and have just the dim text only so put the lines in at the beginning.

it is a solution but wondering if there is easy way to do it with out drawing reference lines for dimension.. I am sure there must be a diffrerent and easy way. i posted these questin at chatting linh, but could not get a proper answers..
