I have finally figured out how to attach a nested family base plate with anchor rods to a column in Revit Structure 2009.  

However, I came across a problem with the Graphical Column Schedule.  If the anchor rods extend below the lower reference level in the column family, it lowers the bottom of my column graphically in the schedule, as if the anchor rods are a part of the overall column length.  

 I have set the visibility of the nested base plate to "Fine" and to only appear in 3D views, but no luck.

I would hate to scrap this after coming this far.  Does anyone have any ideas?
